While reviewing the anime film, Paprika, Newsweek‘s David Ansen wonders why Americans aren’t more open to animated films for adults.

There’s no reason the imaginative freedom that animation allows shouldn’t be unleashed on adult themes, especially when graphic novels have entered the literary mainstream and when CGI has blurred the line between live action and animation in films like “300.” Outside the United States, animators are not so likely to be confined to the ghetto of kiddie movies.

Voltron ToyLike many of you, I was hooked on Voltron from the very first episode. Watching Voltron after school was a must before doing anything else. Of course, after watching this animated infomercial every day, I had to have the Voltron toys, too. Unfortunantly, my Voltron collection consisted of only the Black Lion, a cheap miniature version of vehicle team, and the big, plastic-cheapo version of the lion team.
Since I was pretty good this year, maybe Santa will finally give me the real thing–all five lions, complete with the “Blazing Sword!”

He comes packaged in a ‘book-style’ box with slide-out tray, allowing for safe storage and forever mint-in-box packaging.

From Director Kazuhiro Furuhashi (Get Backers, Rurouni Kenshin TV) and Production I.G. (Ghost in the Shell, Blood+) comes a tale of murder, mystery and mysticism. Le Chevalier D’Eon is a masterful fictionalization of the real life Charles d’Eon de Beaumont, a diplomat, writer, spy, and Freemason known as one of the best swordsman in France, whose true gender was a source of speculation well into the late 18th century.

Synopsis: Paris, 1742. A coffin floats in the shimmering Seine. On the lid, a word written in blood—Psalms. Inside, the body of a beautiful woman. Lia de Beaumont. Now her brother, D’Eon, seeks the reason for her mysterious murder, and uncovers an evil that shadows both the palaces of kings and the dark alleys of Europe. A power wielded by spell-casting Poets, and manipulated by royalty. A force so powerful it brings Lia’s soul back from beyond to seize the only weapon she can possess to avenge her death—her own brother. History meets horror. Fantasy meets mystery. Experience the next revolution in anime with Le Chevalier D’Eon.
